What you can plan and keep track of the whole way through high school is the process of making sure you are taking high school classes across a range of subjects, at an appropriate level of academic rigor, and working hard to succeed in them. There are many different high school classes, ranging from basic required courses to elective “passion projects.” The purpose of this list is to give you an idea of the broad range of topics and specific courses that may be available to you as a high school student.

You don’t have much control over what classes your high school offers, but if there is a topic that interests you, it is worth talking to your guidance counselor early on about the possibility of doing an independent study, or taking a local college course or a correspondence course for high school credit.

This course extends the study of algebra begun in Algebra AB. Familiar topics such as equations, exponents, graphs, systems of equations and polynomials are studied in more depth. New concepts include variation, sequences, matrices, transformations of functions and graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometry, and quadratic functions.  The trigonometry of right triangles is extended to general triangles and the unit circle.

First semester examines linear, quadratic, polynomial, and trigonometric functions and their graphs, domain and range, theory of equations, imaginary and complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic phenomena, and analytic geometry.  Second semester is devoted to trigonometric identities, polar coordinates, complex numbers, vectors and determinants, sequences and series, matrices, probability and statistics.

Ademy Trigonometry is designed to be taken after the completion of Algebra II and is designed for students who are looking to better understand trigonometric functions in preparation for their studies of Calculus or Statistics. This comprehensive course reviews topics in Algebra II, and covers advanced topics in Trigonometry not often seen before Precalculus.

Students will learn trigonometry by actively engaging with the lectures, notes, project, and resources within the course website. As with every other course, each student is assigned an instructor to help them throughout their enrollment. This course offers a comprehensive appraisal of the language of ancient Rome. It also explores some central features of Latin literature. In this course we aim to examine the cultural context surrounding classical Latin and its successors. In the first term, those who have knowledge of Latin grammar will be able to review it at a leisurely pace, while people with little or no knowledge will have an opportunity to learn the basics of the Latin grammar.

Aspects such as the origins and development of the Latin language, its power of communication, comparisons between formal and informal Latin in antiquity and beyond will also be considered. The second term will be devoted to a careful study of the Latin literary language through samplings of Latin authors, in both poetry and prose, ranging from antiquity to early modern times.
